Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, is celebrating its first anniversary as a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) under the platform "Building Community Through Education". The College adopted the status in January 2014, becoming one of the first higher education institutions to do so. The effort formalized Rasmussen College's 115-year commitment to meeting the needs of the community, whether through education or service. By officially becoming a Public Benefit Corporation, the College was able to expand on its established commitment to serve the community through career-focused education and volunteer efforts that meet the diverse needs of individuals.

Rasmussen College is pleased to welcome Debra Albert to its Academic Council. The Council, which advises the College on academic matters both within and outside the College as well as issues and trends in higher education, is made up of college and university leaders from across the country. Albert joins the Council from the University of Chicago Medicine where she currently serves as the senior vice president of Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer. Her responsibilities include overseeing the philosophy, policies and procedures of the Patient Care Services department, as well as evaluating and continuously improving patient care in support of the mission and vision of the medical center. Prior to the University of Chicago, Albert served as the chief nursing officer at MacNeal Hospital, a full-service community hospital located in the Chicago area.

In an effort to help students in Northwest Kansas continue their education and advance their careers, Rasmussen College recently partnered with Northwest Kansas Technical College located in Goodland, Kan. and granted Northwest Tech students full transfer of credits into its AcceleratED Bachelor’s Degree Completion program. Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, today announced the opening of a Law Enforcement Training Facility at its Eagan campus. The new 8,000-square-foot location includes several modern, scenario training rooms in which students can practice situations they may encounter as a law enforcement officer. Training courses will be led by a faculty made up of currently working or recently retired officers from police departments and sheriff&#8217;s offices in the metro area. Rasmussen College, a leader in post-secondary higher education, announced today it will provide grants to the dozens of active duty military students whose tuition assistance was suspended earlier this year due to federal spending cuts — also known as the sequestration. The spending cuts to federal agencies, including the Department of Defense went in to effect March 1, 2013.
