Rasmussen College Receives Regional Accreditation
ROSEVILLE, Minn. - September 2002 - The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools has granted regional accreditation to Rasmussen College, a distinguished, two-year, degree-granting institution.
The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association accredits colleges, universities, and other organizations of higher learning in the north central region of the United States. Founded in 1895, it is committed to developing and maintaining high standards of excellence.
Through a comprehensive self-assessment, Rasmussen College has documented an ongoing effort to provide superior academics, demonstrate concern for its health and vitality, and meet the needs of its varied constituents.
Accreditation provides assurance to the public, and in particular to prospective students, that an institution meets the requirements and criteria set forth by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools' Higher Learning Commission. A major benefit to students who graduate from a regionally accredited institution is that when considering transferability of credits, other institutions often use accreditation status as part of the transfer decision.
Approximately 950 institutions of higher learning in the 19-state region are regionally accredited. However, very few of those are privately owned. Rasmussen College is among a handful of private, two-year colleges in Minnesota to be accredited by the North Central Association.
