Our Transfer Process:

  • If you wish to transfer credits to Rasmussen College, you must first apply for admission. Submit a completed application and application fee. You can also apply online.
  • Your official transcripts should be sent directly to Rasmussen College. This includes your high school, as well as any colleges, universities, technical, trade or vocational institutions you have attended.
  • As part of the acceptance process, your official transcripts will be evaluated for transfer credit. You will receive notification identifying the courses that transferred and which of the Rasmussen College courses they will replace. This information is also noted on your Rasmussen College transcript.

General Rules of Transfer Credit:

  • Rasmussen College awards quarter credits. In considering transfer courses, a semester credit is equivalent to 1.25 quarter credits.
  • Rasmussen observes a 10-year limit on Major/Core classes
  • Rasmussen observes a 5-year limit on Major/Core computer application/IT classes
  • There is no expiration on General Education classes (Gen Eds)
  • “C” or above is the minimum requirement for course transfer
  • Students may not transfer in and/or test out of more than a total of 50% of the program credit hour requirements. This includes any combination of Gen Eds, Major/Core classes, credit waivers, and Credit-by-Exam

Transfer Credit Policy:

Rasmussen College reserves the right to accept or deny transfer of credit based on the following guidelines:

  • Transfer credits from accredited colleges, other than Rasmussen College, will be evaluated on course content. Most courses that are comparable in content from other colleges will be accepted.
  • Students must have received a “C” grade or higher to transfer a course to a Rasmussen College program.
  • Courses that have been transferred will be listed on the student’s transcript with a “TR” designation. However, grade points from institutions other than Rasmussen College will not be computed in the Rasmussen College grade point average.
  • Courses from accredited degree-granting colleges, which are intended to transfer as general education requirements, will be considered in the categories listed as “General Education Requirements” in the Rasmussen College catalog.
  • Transfer credits from within the Rasmussen College system will be transferred directly from one Rasmussen College campus to another.
  • Grade point averages and grades from courses taken at any of the Rasmussen College campuses will be computed in the student’s final grade point average.

Transfer Credit Appeal Policy:

If your courses are not accepted for transfer, you may file an appeal through the following process:

  • Complete an appeal form. Supplemental information such as a syllabus, course description, or text may be required.
  • The information will be reviewed by the Academic Dean, Campus Director, or Associate Campus Director, along with appropriate faculty.
  • You will receive the outcome of the decision in writing.
  • Students who enter Rasmussen College are required to take the STEP placement exam. Should a student test at a level of remediation in English or Math, the College will not accept transfer in English Composition, College Algebra, College Math, Creative Writing, Pharmacy Math and Dosages, Professional Communication, or Statistics. Upon successful completion of the courses and subsequent passing of the placement exams, the College may reconsider transfer of credit in these courses.

International Transcripts:

  • International college or high school transcripts may be evaluated by World Education Services (WES)
  • The current fee (at a cost to the student) is $150.00
  • The student must have all original transcripts forwarded from the country of origin directly to WES (they will not accept photocopies or originals sent from the campus)
