I do think that this will work. It appears to be a great deal of advertising for very little money. Compared to TV or Radio, it is a steal. My Space is checked out by millions, great world wide coverage. Google will have to offer something along the same price range or they will lose some advertisers.

Yes, the advertising will work. The traffic on myspace, google is just crazy in numbers. People will stumble across the little known services and products they never thought about or didn't even know existed. It is a new approach for smaller businesses for advertising and might catch people's attention. Obviously, it has worked in some instances bringing back a good return for businesses. I believe Google is much bigger than Myspace so obviously businesses want to use the service with the "Most Bang for the Buck" for their advertising purposes. I believe that Myspace will ultimately suceed though because the article states that it has 122 million users! That is also a lot of 'Bang for the Buck" and it targets certain audiences.

I agree with the idea about the cost! definitely a good value and to reach that many people is awesome.

I think that it will work with all the people who use the internet and it is a cheaper rate to go. The way that the economy is in people really can't afford much right now. I think google will probably try to compete with them and make an alternative to where their deal may sound better than Myspace's deal. To be back on top

I think this is a good idea and it will work because myspace is a good resource for small businesses because the whole worlds on myspace and myspace is like a big advertisement it places all kind of ads I think this a smart move for poeple who want there advertisements to be added on myspace and thats a competition for google because of the myspace adds its not going to hurt them as much but it will take alot of there small business advertisements.

I think it will work. using myspace for small business is more cost efficient, and the smaller businesses can target a specific auidence. Advertising on TV and Radio can be costly and it is not as global as myspace. Google will have to meet the price of myspace in order to stay competitive

I think the small business ads will definitely help a lot of small businesses trying to come up in the market. I am not sure if it will help every advertiser trying to advertise their business, but it will get their ads recognized. Recognition is the first step to someone buying a product. They have to see what they may potentially buy. I think a lot of people use Myspace, but at the same time, a lot of people do not use Myspace or could care less about Myspace, where a lot of people use Google for anything and almost everything. So Google may effect Myspace by getting more views to their website.

responding to Brian Kassner. I agree, Google will have to come up with a similar offer. It seems like that is what most companies do. They see someone else doing something then come up with something similar to stay even, while still trying to find a new idea to get ahead. Myspace was just the lucky one that came up with the idea first.

I believe that the ads will work because it has worked on other websites. I also believe it will work because it is a more affordable way for businesses to advertise. I think that google will be it's biggest competitor, but I think they will both survive since there is enough consumers out there to view all of the ads on websites.

In response to Heather Castle I believe that Myspace recieves a lot of views, and millions of people see what Myspace has to offer everyday so I believe that the ads on there will be a success.

I think in general everyone has the same idea. It seems everyone understands that advertising in myspace will most likely help their business. Even better if the cost is less by posting the add on myspace.

In response to Heather Johnson:: I agree with you. I think Google will try to compete and like you said maybe even make their ads sound better, to be #1. I know I didnt say that in my post, but I think they will! Almost everyone in the U.S. has a computer so they will either go to Google or Myspace and they will see the ads, making it good for small business advertisement.

I strongly believe social network advertising will work effectively. A cheaper, more easily accessible advertising alternative is just what small businesses need in this time of economic stress. Spending needs to start again in order to make this bailout work, so enabling small businesses to advertise cheaper will aid the boost in consumer demand. These cost effective MyAds also put small businesses at the fingertips of their consumers. Competitors should not underestimate the power of the social network in our ever growing age of information. MySpace is powered by advertisements. Anyone from a band in Canada to a presidential candidate advertises on MySpace and it works. As far as the competitor Google, special package deals for small businesses would be a smart move. I do not think much can be done to slow down MyAd advertising.

i think heather is on the right track with her theme of recognition. in today's growing information age its all about who you are friends with on myspace.

Yes, I believe this will work due to the volume of people worldwide that socialize on MySpace. Given the current situation of the economy, it is my belief that companies are looking at ways to trim expenses and marketing seems to be on the top of everyone's list. With an opportunity to market at a lower cost and reach people worldwide, this could serve as an effeicient and low cost way keep companies thriving. I think that Google, as a competitor, will feel the impact of this new venture but I also believe they will come out with something similar and/or less cost effective.

I thin It will work. People spend great amouny of time on internet eevry day especially my space . People will rather read stuff online than gett newpapers and they also trust a lot of thing online. especially because its so cheap a lot of people may start using that type of advertising
Posted by Andrea Gavric on 10/19/2008 12:00:00 AM

I think that it will work if for no other reason than the huge amount of teens and adults that have and use Myspace. Not to mention it would cost so much less to advertise on a website that millions of people see, than to buy 1,000 billboards than most people wont even pay attention to. With Google, they have so many faithful customers I don't think it will hurt them to much to have Myspace doing this. Plus I agree with a lot of the class that online marketing will probably become a huge industry in it's own right. Especially with sites like Myspace.

Ads like this could be very good for small businesses. I think the internet is a good way to advertise with more access to technology.
Posted by Jakee Thrasher on 10/27/2008 12:00:00 AM

As many people as there are who frequent the "myspace" world, I believe that this type of social advertising is very smart. With the economy suffering the way it is, this gives small business owners a chance to survive. As for google or any other competitor, they will more than likely come out with something bigger or better to "one-up" myspace's MyAds.
