New Job, New Grades
Posted Friday, November 21, 2008 by Marie Schmidt

Well, it has been a little while since I have written in here hasn’t it? I have been so busy with my new job assignment. Three days a week I am working as a manager on duty at my job throughout the holidays. It is my first time ever being in a management/supervisor role and it can be very challenging, but it is a great learning experience. The important thing to remember is to not to let little things bug me or get stressed out. I am excited though to be in my first role as a manager on duty. Even though I am technically not a manager I am playing the acting role. It has been fun and we were extremely busy the past two days and I have had to make the best use of my resources. Fridays and Saturdays I work as a cashier. It is hard making the transition back to a regular employee when I am MOD three days a week. Hopefully I will do well in this assignment and when Christmas is over get a supervisor position as two should be opening up after Christmas. It has been a challenge to complete all my schoolwork with working longer hours, but I am getting it done. I am still able to get all my reading assignments done by Sunday then work on all my written assignments and student discussion assignments during the week.

The mid-term week is over and our grades are out. Mine are not too bad; however I would like to be up to at least an A- in Professional Communication as my final grade. I already have an A in Principles of Advertising so I know I will have an A as a final grade. Introduction to Psychology has been a little difficult for me. More difficult than I originally planned. I have a B+ as midterm grade, but after I took my exam last night I have an 85% in the class as my overall grade. Hopefully I can bring it up to an A- or at least stay at a B+. I have not even chosen my classes for winter quarter yet. I want to take either Microsoft Word or Excel, but those classes are only worth three credits and I have to be enrolled full time because of the financial aid. I am going to have to email the scheduler and ask her. It would be nice to take both those classes and get them out of the way. Not sure what I am going to take as my other class maybe Macroeconomics.
