Another year bits the dust… I do not know about you, but it seems to me that this year flew by. As a matter of fact it seems as is every year is going by faster and faster. Do you feel the same or is it just me? This year I have decided to make some New Year resolutions and not only am I going to make them, but I am going to stick to them.

How many times have you made a New Year resolution and it only lasted for the first couple of days, weeks or maybe a month. I know we make these commitments and never stick to them with the exception of a few people here and there. I think it is horrible that we allow ourselves to be cheated by ourselves. We get so upset if someone else cheats us, but not when we do it. Well I am not going to do it this year.

What is going to be your New Year resolution? Some of the most common resolutions I hear and have had myself are: “I am going to start working-out and eating healthy”, “I am going to cut out sweets”, and “I am going to start saving money”. All of these are great ideas and well worth the efforts, we just need to do it and stick with it.

One of my New Year resolutions is going to be becoming a better friend. I am not saying that I am a bad friend because I am there if they need me and I always listen when they need an ear to chat in, but I do get caught up in everyday life and time gets by without seeing them or calling to say hello. I have been through some tough times this year and my friends were great! They were there for me when I needed them most and I was very thankful for that. This has made me realize that I do not want to loose their friendships, therefore I need to step-up to the plate and make sure that does not happen. I really feel life is too short to take it for granted and I really need to enjoy everyone my friends and family while I can.

I hope all of you have a New Year resolution for 2008. If you do make sure you commit yourself too it and you will truly appreciate your accomplishments when you reach them.

May you have a Prosperous 2008 filled with lots of love, happiness, friends and family!!

Three days left until Christmas is here…

I hope for those who celebrate are full of Christmas cheer. This time of year is always a stressful time for most because there is so much to do and not enough time to do it. Of course there are those people who do their holiday shopping through-out the year and they are now sitting back and relaxing. However let’s face it, the majority of us are all procrastinators and love to wait until the last minute to get all of our shopping done. I am one of those people myself and cannot stand it. Every year I tell myself that next year I am going to get all of my shopping done early so I do not have to mess with the crowds, but that never happens.

The Christmas spirit…You have it or you don’t…

It is a little hard getting into the Christmas spirit this year. Of course it does not help when it is 80 degrees outside and three days until Christmas either. I actually was not going participate in Christmas this year, but that did not stick in my head for long. I really enjoy GIVING and seeing everyone’s face filled with joy. There is no way I can truly not participate in Christmas. This time of year really gets me down sometimes when I see all the other families getting together and having a good time. My family is scattered through the United States and never seem to manage to get together during the holidays. Thanks goodness for great friends and their families that welcome me in.

Last Minute Shoppers…

I managed this year to get all of my Christmas shopping done in two days…yes two days. This type of shopping is only obtainable if you know what you want to buy in advance. I cannot stand browsing around the department stores trying to find that perfect gift. Did you know that internet shopping is the latest craze of the millennium? One might ask how I can shop online if I am one of those procrastinator shoppers. Well, what I do is search online for the gifts I want and then go to the store to purchase it. It is great because you are in and out. Some of my favorite websites to check out are amazon.com and ticketmaster.com. Ticketmaster is great for getting those gifts for people who like to go to concerts and theatre shows.  Gift cards are another quick and easy route for gift giving; however I never like those because they seem so impersonal. You can now buy gift cards online too. There are lots of great websites to check out to find that special gift. You may not find the exact gift you are looking for, but you will find ideas for similar things you can put together. Does anyone have any good tips on how to find that perfect gift and express shop all at once?

Happy Holiday!!

I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday! This time of year is great for spending time with your friends and family. Always remember life is too short to take your loved ones for granted. May you have a wonderful day!!

Merry Christmas & Feliz Navidad…

I finished the last semester with a bang and I am ready for a break. Whew…this was a very difficult semester for me, but I managed to get through it and finish with good grades. This is why I live by the saying “If there is a will, there is a way”.

I want to say thanks to Carrolyn for commenting on one of my posts, you shared some very good points and I will remember what you said when times get tough. Thanks a lot!!

As for the topic of the week…I love this time of year for several reasons. Tis’ the season to be filled with lots of joy, peace and happiness. I know for those of you from up north probably do not understand how we Floridians get into the holiday spirit, but we do. I never really lived up north therefore I do not think of winter filled with snow. I actually can not stand the snow and hope to live were the sun shines forever. I also like this time of year because it is filled with lots of GREAT food. Hmmm…I love holiday food. My dad loved to cook too and this was a great time for him as well.

My favorite dish during this time of year would have to be Sausage Sage Stuffing. A friend of mine made it one year at her dinner party and I have been hooked ever since. For those who would like to try it…here is a link for the recipe. This website has a lot of other great recipes too for everyone to check out. Another one of my favorites if Green Bean Casserole. That is a classic that you can find on just about anyone’s dinner table during the holidays. Let’s not forget the great deserts that fill our tummies this time of year like apple pie, pumpkin pie and those delicious cookies.

I love to cook and try new things so if anyone has a family recipe that they are willing to share, please do.

What is your favorite dish around the holidays?

As if finals are not bad enough, we get to throw the end of the year pressure in the mix. Unless you are only a student, I am sure you understand what I am talking about.

When December comes, the boss man comes out too. It is that time of the year where the company’s numbers come to a close and the books need to look good, show lots of profit for the year and be ready for new beginnings. This time of year has always been stressful for me in the finance world of business.

Now I have finals to worry about too. The good thing is after next week we get a break and boy do I need it. Finals seem to get harder and harder as time goes by. I thought school would get easier as I become accustom to everything, boy was I wrong.

Actually some classes are a breeze for me and others are not so much. For example my computer class that I am currently taking is challenging, but yet I understand it. The English Composition class is a bit more difficult for me; therefore I am worried about writing my final paper.

I have not been able to figure out any new strategies to put into place yet when it comes to taking finals. The key elements go back to the basic; time management, studying, reviewing notes from the semester and asking your teacher any questions you might have. I know from experience, being an online student you sometimes forget that there is a teacher who is available to answer any questions you might have.

BTW: Check out this site for a few tips on studying for finals.

How are you doing this time of year?
