So what do you think?

Posted Friday, February 22, 2008 by Mark Krupinski

I wanted to take a moment and get some feedback from you.

Over the past week of so, I have started using CHIPsNet to "broadcast" news and events from the various campuses.  I've also been trying to include photographs and hyperlinks in each story.

Have you noticed this new format?

If you did, what think about it?

What do you like?

Most importantly, what don't you like?

Is there anything you'd like included?

Please let me know because your insight is very valuable to me.

Next, I want to introduce to some cool technology that I think we could all benefit from in the near future.  It's from Ustream.tv (see below) and it allows you to create a "channel" and broadcast a live video feed along with interactive polling and instant messaging.

I could see this technology being used for meetings or classrooms.  What to know what the best part is?  It's free - all you need it time and a webcam.

I'm going to test this over the next week (weekdays between the hours of 10 - 6 PM EST) and see how it performs.  If you want to visit the "test page", please do over the next week and let me know what you think.

As for the students out there reading this post, should I put something like this on the student portal?

Let me know.

Say hello to the newest blog in the Ras-o-sphere!

It's called Of Mice and Robots and it's written by Hap Aziz who is the Director of the School of Technology and Design for Rasmussen College.

So if you're into tech and design or just plain gaming, this blog is for you.  Check it out and let us know what you think.

Any questions?

The other day, I came across a great post which suggested creating community by joining a FlickR group.

It got me thinking.  We have 12 – 13 if you count our online campus – and each one is unique.

They are unique in focus. They are unique in architecture.  They are unique in faculty and students.

Most importantly, they are unique in location.

It got me thinking; why not create a FlickR group for Rasmussen College?  Whether you are into photowalking or simply snapping a picture or two when the moment is right – I’m sure you have pictures of your campus or community you’d like to share.

So I went ahead and created the “official Rasmussen College FlickR Group” and I’m offering it to everyone who is part of the Rasmussen family.  I actually have pictures on there right now from my trip to the Minnesota campuses this past August.

Also, when you tag your photos please use "Rasmussen College" and designate the campus you attend (e.g. "Rockford Campus") in addition to the tags you want to include.

Now to show you some of the photos of your community already on FlickR, check out these:

In addition, here’s some other ones I found interesting:

An in my research for this post, I came across an article that identifies 87 recommended photography sites for anyone who loves taking pictures.

Now go forth and take some pictures!

After being out of the Office earlier this week, I've been playing a lot of catch-up.  Tonight, I'm going through my RSS feeds via Google Reader and I came across these three resources for finding a good blog:

How do you find great blogs and web sites?
