How do I know if the AcceleratED Bachelor’s Completion Program is right for me?

Our AcceleratED program is designed for students with previous college credit who have achieved success as a college student. Our transfer policies and specific educational requirements are based on your program of interest, but we encourage all students with previous college credit who are invested in earning a Bachelor’s degree to apply. Students best suited for this program are committed to earning a Bachelor’s degree fully online and have the time management skills to succeed in the condensed format of completing two courses every six weeks.

How do AcceleratED online classes differ from other online classes? Are they interactive?

AcceleratED online courses require significant time invested in coursework because of the quicker completion time. Our online course platform features live lectures with progressive technology so you can connect with classmates and faculty in real time, convenient etextbook materials available online, and access to comprehensive student support services, including our Technical Support with 24/7 access.

How often should I log in to my classes?

Successful students typically log in every day to maintain discussions, review coursework, and stay up-to-date on course deadlines, but our online courses are designed with your busy lifestyle in mind, so when there are not scheduled live lectures, you can access your classes at a time each day that is convenient for you.

How much time do I need to devote to school?

Typically, our students need approximately 15-20 hours per week to devote to coursework for each class. Our AcceleratED program is designed so students complete two courses every six weeks, and it is important to devote enough time to each course. By designing the AcceleratED program in this format, this allows you to complete the program in as little as 18 months.

I am familiar with residential class environments, but not online—how do I meet other students?

You have several options and opportunities to meet and interact with other students in your online courses. Through our online classroom community, is not only encouraged, it is required to participate with fellow students in live sessions to help foster peer-to-peer relationships in the virtual sphere. In addition, many online students generate study groups with individuals and collaborate on projects.

Will I have group assignments?

Students receive grades for individual work, but particular projects may be conducted in a group environment.

How will my faculty members and I interact with each other?

Through live lectures and videoconference platforms, such as Skype and Ping, faculty members are here to help you master course concepts and prepare for professional success. Through providing feedback and answering your questions about coursework, faculty members welcome you to interact with them.
What is the caliber of instruction?

AcceleratED faculty members are selected based on their experience and ability to provide excellent instruction in an online environment. All our AcceleratED faculty members have Master’s degrees and are industry experts in their field, so you know they can provide the guidance you need to elevate your career for success.

Do I need to be logged in at any certain times?

Unless your course has a live lecture scheduled at a specific time, you are not required to log in to your courses at scheduled times. However, we encourage students to log in each day to check on the status of their courses and view any updates from faculty.

Will I receive textbooks even though the courses are online?

Yes. Your course materials are provided in an etextbook format online, which provides the flexibility of accessing your studies from any location. You can download your etextbooks to your tablet or smartphone, take notes, highlight, and conveniently search for terms with ease.

Are there breaks in My Degree Plan? What if something comes up that I need to take time off?

Yes, you will receive one week off in between each term (which roughly equates to one week per month) to take a break from your coursework and prepare for the upcoming quarter. If something comes up and you need to take time off, there are options for you. However, in order to ensure academic success, we advise you to speak with your faculty or advisor before taking time off from your courses.

Am I able to test out of classes if I feel my work experience has prepared me?

Yes, at this time, we have test out opportunities at the lower division coursework.

How many classes do I take each term?

Most successful students take two courses every six weeks.

Does this degree prepare me to continue my education to earn a Master’s degree?

Absolutely; our AcceleratED Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program provides the foundation you need to earn a Master’s degree. Please note that acceptance to a Master’s degree program is at the discretion of the school you are applying to.

Are there internships in the AcceleratED program?

There are no formal requirements for an internship, but industry experience is essential to career success, so we encourage our students to expand outside the classroom to receive the hands-on knowledge and training needed to gain a competitive edge in the workforce.

Do you offer Master’s degrees?

We currently do not offer Master’s degrees, but our curriculum and degrees are focused on job market and relevancy.

What will ‘transfer of credit’ look like if I decide to earn my master’s degree?

Although the transfer of credit is at the sole discretion of the receiving institution, many of our graduates have continued their education beyond a Bachelor’s degree at numerous other colleges and universities. Rasmussen College is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. This means we adhere to the highest standards of education and student support. I already have my Bachelor’s degree. Why would this be a better option than a Master’s degree?

Choosing to earn a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree is dependent on your academic and career goals. Earning another Bachelor’s degree could be beneficial to you, but your higher education path should be customized to suit your field of study and career.

Do students work full time and attend school full time?

Yes. Many of our AcceleratED students already have a career and our AcceleratED format is designed for students with a busy lifestyle. Going to college and continuing your career simultaneously requires solid prioritization and time management skills, especially in the condensed format of this program.

What type of technical support is available to me?
