Matthew Petz

When Matthew Petz teaches, his energy levels are contagious. With 12 years experience as a peace officer, Matthew draws upon his former roles as a hostage negotiator, SWAT team member and K9 trainer to motivate students. Petz holds a Master’s in Psychology with a focus in criminal justice from St. Mary’s University.

While teaching for the School of Justice Studies at the Eagan campus, Matthew works to make a strong connection with every one of his students.

When he’s not in the classroom, you’ll find him with his wife Tanya, a detective herself, two daughters Danica and Makayla and their dog Rexx. Most likely, he will be scuba diving, motorcycling or simply enjoying the outdoors.
