IP Telephony professionals use telecommunications and technology to facilitate voice, video, and other communication over the Internet. Our Information Systems Management Associate’s degree with a specialization in IP Telephony provides you with a solid foundation in network structure and phone system design, installation, and management. This curriculum helps to ensure that as a graduate, you are able to deliver cost-effective communication solutions to your employer, and helps to give you a competitive advantage over other candidates for positions such as Telephony Specialist, Internet Technician, and Network Technician.
Our top-tier program, taught by industry-certified faculty, includes a continual focus on current and emerging technologies. Throughout your degree coursework, you will receive hands-on experience with Cisco® equipment, allowing you to gain experience and confidence working with live networks. In preparing you to pass your industry-specific CompTIA®, Microsoft®, and Cisco® certification exams, we provide courses and practice tests, as well as the hardware, software, and FTP/Web space that you will need. We even cover your exam fees for these certifications.*
*Rasmussen College will cover the application fee for each first attempt of all of the industry certification exams for which you qualify to take. Should you need to take an exam more than once to receive a passing score, you will be responsible for all subsequent exam application fees.

Rasmussen College's IP Telephony specialization will teach you the fundamentals of a Cisco® network and Voice over IP (VoIP). After graduation, you will possess the knowledge and skills you need to help you be successful in an IP Telephony career. You will receive hands-on training on campus to help you support a telecommunications network.

You will learn how to set up Cisco Unity Express in a typical corporate setting.
Cisco Networking Fundamentals and Routing
You will learn how to configure a Cisco router using Cisco IOS.
Voice Over IP Fundamentals
You will learn the differences between Public Switched Telephone Networks (PSTN) and VoIP systems. You will demonstrate an understanding of the tools available for performing backups, maintaining security, performing restores, and performance tuning the database.
