Rasmussen College History

2007
Rasmussen College opens campuses in Lake Elmo / Woodbury, Minnesota and Green Bay Wisconsin, and merges with its sister schools Aakers College and Webster College under the Rasmussen College name.

2006
Rasmussen College offers Bachelor of Science in Business Management Degree.

Rasmussen College opens a campus in Rockford, IL.

2005
Rasmussen College's Mankato campus completes its health care lab addition, and Rasmussen College's first classes of LPN, Massage & Pharmacy Technician students begin their programs.

2004
Rasmussen College joins Deltak edu, Inc., to become a part of the Deltak College Network. This partnership provides Rasmussen College with industry-leading expertise in online education and new program development.

2003
Rasmussen College adds Criminal Justice, Banking & Finance, and Human Resource Management to its career offerings.

2002
Rasmussen College is awarded Regional Accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (NCA).

Rasmussen College expands its class schedule options to include online courses.

2000
Rasmussen College celebrates its 100th birthday. The year 2000 marks a century of leadership and innovation in career education for Rasmussen College.

1997
A spacious new facility is completed in St. Cloud for the St. Cloud campus of Rasmussen College.

1995
Rasmussen College implements an aggressive technology initiative to provide maximum computer access to students, both on and off campus.

1994
To more accurately reflect the broadening scope and mission of the College, the name officially changes from Rasmussen Business College to Rasmussen College.

The Mankato Campus moves to its spacious facility, on Madison Avenue, to better serve its students & staff.

1989
The St. Paul Campus moves to Eagan, upon completion of a 20,000 square foot, state of the art facility on Federal Drive in Eagan.

1986
Rasmussen College becomes the first proprietary two-year college, in Minnesota, authorized to award Associate in Applied Science Degrees.

1983
Rasmussen College Mankato is founded to meet the needs of career students in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.

1979
Northern Technical School of Business becomes a part of the Rasmussen College System.

1974
St. Cloud Business College becomes a part of the Rasmussen College System.

1963
Northern Technical School of Business founded in Minneapolis.

1961
Wilbur C. Nemitz and Robert W. Nemitz, both instructors at Rasmussen College and sons of Walter Nemitz, purchase the College.

1945
Walter Nemitz, an instructor at Rasmussen, purchases Rasmussen College from Walter Rasmussen.

1902
Grove Lake Academy becomes the St. Cloud Business College, in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

1900
Rasmussen College is founded by Walter Rasmussen, in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, to meet the needs of the budding business environment, at the turn of the century. Classes begin in September of 1900.
