Police Officers are responsible for patrolling an assigned area to prevent and discover crime and to enforce regulations. They conduct investigations, make arrests and testify in court.  Police Officers respond to calls and take necessary action at the scene of crime or disturbance.  They also complete reports, forms and routine paperwork. Police Offers work under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant.

Customs Inspectors inspect and search cargo, baggage or articles worn, carried or shipped. They detect and seize illegal and smuggled goods. Customs Inspectors have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Criminal Justice field. They rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a manager.

Security Guard - $31,177 median national salary
Periodically, Security Guards patrol buildings and grounds of industrial plants, commercial establishments, docks, logging camp areas, or work sites. They are familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the Criminal Justice field, and rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
