Rasmussen College one of few to offer specialized technology degree

Eden Prairie (MN) — As technology continues to evolve daily, local colleges are working to keep up with the demand by offering high technology degree options. Rasmussen College is one of the few colleges to now offer a Voice over Internet Protocol emphasis through it School of Technology and Design.

VoIP has gained widespread acceptance among companies looking to reduce the cost of telecommunications between office locations to its employees. This technology allows the transmission of voice through the Internet efficiently and inexpensively.

With an emphasis in IP Telephony, students will learn project planning skills, PC computer hardware and software (installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery), networking fundamentals, and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) fundamentals.

"The Internet continues to revolutionize the way we communicate with each other," said Hap Aziz, Director of the School of Technology and Design at Rasmussen College. "VoIP is the next Internet service where businesses, as well as individuals will be investing hundreds of millions of dollars to change how we do one of our most basic daily tasks; talk on the phone."

The Eden Prairie campus is home to The Hub, where students can earn multiple IT certifications and gain experience in real-world situations. Along with IT certifications, the School of Technology and Design at the Eden Prairie campus offers an associate's degree in Multimedia Technologies. The Multimedia Technologies degree has emphasis' in digital design and animation, and web design.

Rasmussen College offers technology and design degrees and certifications at many of its other campuses located throughout the country and online.
