Ft. Myers (FL) — The Southwest Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce presented two full scholarships on June 7 at the International Hispanic Gala at the Harborside Event Center.
The two Hispanic Encouragement Scholarship award recipients were Tiffany Meza of Mariner High in Cape Coral and Jonathan Montes de Oca from Palmetto Ridge High in Naples. Both students will be attending Rasmussen College in Ft. Myers in the Fall.
The two full-ride scholarships were presented to the Southwest Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce by Rasmussen College last month.
"The Chamber has partnered with Rasmussen College in providing avenues for area high school seniors to attend this respected higher learning institution," Executive Director of the chamber Leonardo Garcia said. "The Chamber will help Rasmussen College reach out to Hispanic high school students in Southwest Florida and promote the college at Chamber events."
Rasmussen College Campus Director Eric Whitehouse looks forward to the partnership with the chamber.
"As an institution, Rasmussen College is wholly dedicated to the community," Whitehouse said. "We value the Hispanic community, and we are committed to providing the best educational resources. Partnering with the Hispanic Chamber gives us the opportunity to reach the community and to support their mission."
Both Tiffany Meza and Jonathan Montes de Oca will enter the Bachelor's program at Rasmussen College.
The scholarships presented by Rasmussen College are welcome and appreciated; they help community high school seniors, our future business leaders and professionals, obtain a college education and better themselves," Garcia said.
"We value education and partnering with area universities and colleges such as Rasmussen College to help make Southwest Florida a better place to live, work, and do business," he concluded.
