While some industries in the United States are downsizing, there is good news on the horizon for job seekers; the U.S. Department is expecting significant growth in certain fields, including Human Services and Social Services. In response to this growth, Rasmussen College is now offering an Associate of Science degree in Human Services.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of social and human service assistants is expected to grow by nearly 34 percent through 2016. Career prospects are expected to be excellent, particularly for applicants with appropriate postsecondary education.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that there will be 15,310 job openings for social and human service assistants, 2,310 job openings for eligibility interviewers for government programs, 136,000 job openings for counselors through 2016.

As a part of its commitment to offer education in the most in-demand career fields, Rasmussen College has now added the Human Services degree to its program portfolio and is enrolling students for October.

In the Human Services program, students will learn the skills necessary to provide services to individuals or groups of people with diverse problems. Graduates will be prepared to help clients overcome obstacles and to make a positive impact in their communities.

The Human Services program at Rasmussen College will be available through the School of Justice Studies and will include coursework in organization and leadership, crisis intervention, and community psychology. The Human Services degree will be available at all seven Minnesota campuses, at its North Dakota campuses, and at its Green Bay, Wis. campus.

Rasmussen College is a private, regionally accredited college offering Bachelor’s and Associate’s degrees online and on campus. Rasmussen College has 16 campus locations and a national online college.
