Pasco County and Ocala (FL)—After several years of partnership with Rasmussen College, Webster College of Pasco County and Ocala will be changing its name to Rasmussen College.
The name change comes subsequent to a new accreditation status attained by Webster College in April when it merged with Rasmussen College under the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
Webster College was granted regional accreditation after efforts to align its curriculum and student services with those of Rasmussen College and Aakers College—another sister school also changing its name to Rasmussen College—were reviewed and approved by the HLC.
The change from Webster College to Rasmussen College will go into effect October 15, 2007.
The name change will not affect campus operations, current students, or past graduates of Webster College.
“This change in our name is a great step for the college as a whole, and we will continue to dedicate ourselves to the mission of supporting students in achieving their career goals,” Pasco County Campus Director Claire Walker said. “We are part of a large network, and we have more resources to help our students succeed.”
The history of Rasmussen College dates back to 1900 when Walter Rasmussen founded the Rasmussen Practical Business School in St. Paul, MN. The mission of the school was to provide business education to career-oriented men and women.
Today, the College has grown to include twelve campuses across five states: Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. In combination with its partnerships, Rasmussen College, Inc. has grown to include a network of more than 7000 students.
Rasmussen College is a private, two and four year institution offering a diverse portfolio of career-focused degrees. In addition to supporting students in the education process, Rasmussen College offers career placement opportunities to its students and garners partnerships with local businesses to promote community advancement.
