Eagan (MN) — The Rasmussen College Eagan campus is now the only official Paralegal Certification testing site in Minnesota. The National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) has approved the Eagan campus to administer the National Certification Exam for Paralegals in December 2008.

This two day exam allows graduates with a Paralegal Certificate, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree to become Certified Legal Assistants (CLA) or Certified Paralegals (CP) through NALA. NALA’s CLA/CP program is the nation’s premiere certification procedure for Paralegals in the United States.

"The certification exam provides the Paralegal with an advantage in the job market," said Liz Hurley-Felling, Rasmussen College Paralegal Program Coordinator. "It demonstrates that the Paralegal has extensive content knowledge across a broad range of practice areas within the legal field. We are proud to provide this service to our students and any other Paralegal who wishes to sit for this exam."

Before, Paralegals in Minnesota had to travel as far as Michigan or Nebraska to take the certification exam. By providing a testing facility in Minnesota, Rasmussen College has made opportunities available for people who live in the Upper Midwest.

For Rasmussen College Paralegal students, the cost of the exam is included in their tuition. The first exam will be held on December 5th and end on December 6th. The next exam will take place on March 20-21, 2009.
