CHICAGO, (August 17, 2010) – On Friday, July 23, Rasmussen, Inc. employees devoted an unprecedented 6,500 cumulative hours of work volunteering throughout their communities as part of the annual Rasmussen Community Service Day, which benefits the communities where its 21 campuses are located, as well as four central office communities.
“Rasmussen has a deep partnership with its communities, and we enjoy the opportunity to give back to residents who have so warmly welcomed us,” Rasmussen, Inc. Director of Organizational Development Katie Zapata said. “Our contribution to local residents extends beyond this annual event; we continuously work to participate in programs that benefit a variety of organizations and initiatives.”
Rasmussen, Inc. employees throughout the country assisted with manual labor tasks, including landscaping, painting, cleaning, and organizing, and provided insight on a variety of projects as part of the community service day. Benefiting organizations included local schools, shelters, rehabilitation centers, and food kitchens, among others.
Rasmussen has an extensive history contributing to the growth and well being of the communities it serves. Both employees and students have been recognized nationally for their partnerships with local businesses and volunteerism in local communities. During its first National Community Service Day last year, Rasmussen employees participated in 3,600 cumulative hours of community service across five states as part of the annual company-wide volunteer event.
“We are all about supporting and building our communities by creating jobs, educating students, investing in facilities and providing good trained graduates to be employed in the local workforce,” Rasmussen CEO J. Michael Locke said. ”We work closely with local high schools, hospitals and corporate employers and are delighted to help the charitable organizations in town through this day of service.”
