FORT MYERS, Fla., (November 16, 2010) — Rasmussen College Fort Myers is proud to announce that one of its librarians, Elizabeth “Libby” Grimm, has been elected to serve on the Southwest Florida Library Network Board of Directors for 2011 and 2012. Utilizing her extensive knowledge of the field, Grimm will begin her two-year term for the multitype library cooperative, which serves Lee, Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, and Monroe counties, on Jan. 1, 2011.
“The Rasmussen College Library and Learning Resource team is dedicated to the growth and development of its students, and we are proud that one of our librarians has been recognized for her commitment to the industry,” Rasmussen College Director of Library & Learning Resources Emily O’Connor said. “Libby has been a tremendous asset to Rasmussen College, and she always goes above and beyond to help students find resources and obtain the information they need. The Southwest Florida Library Network Board of Directors will greatly benefit from her knowledge and dedication to librarian services.”
Grimm began working at Rasmussen College when its Fort Myers campus opened in 2008. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of New Hampshire and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University. Grimm will have the option of retaining her seat on the Southwest Florida Library Network Board of Directors for a second two-year term.
The Southwest Florida Library Network cooperative serves the seven counties by facilitating resource sharing within the service area, providing ground delivery for interlibrary loan of materials, advocating for library funding, and providing a premier training venue for library personnel in Southwest Florida, among other services for local academic, public, school, and special libraries.
