ROMEOVILLE, Ill., (November 24, 2010) — In keeping with its commitment to serve its community, Rasmussen College has announced it will sponsor Toys for Tots, Operation Care Package, and Wear if You Care this holiday season by collecting donations for community members in need. Donations for any of the three charitable organizations may be dropped off at the front lobby of the Rasmussen College Romeoville/Joliet campus, located at 1400 West Normantown Road in Romeoville, Ill.
“The holiday season is a cherished time among families and friends and a time for us to recognize those in need within our community,” Rasmussen College Romeoville/Joliet Campus Director Amy Kind said. “We are honored to sponsor three deserving charitable organizations that benefit those in need in our community. Each works toward an admirable cause, and we at Rasmussen College are grateful for the opportunity to serve as a donation site this holiday season.”
Launched by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, Toys for Tots was developed to collect and distribute toys as holiday gifts for children in need, so they too can experience the joy of the season. Community members are encouraged to donate unwrapped new or gently used toys and playthings for children at the local Rasmussen College campus.
Operation Care Package, a nonprofit created by military service members’ relatives, aims to remind U.S. military men and women that they are not forgotten by providing them with letters and care packages. This year, Operation Care Package has specifically requested protein bars, coffee, instant oatmeal, trail mix, and Ziploc bags, among other items. A full list of supplies that may be dropped off for donation at Rasmussen College can be found at www.operationcarepackages.org.
Run entirely by Romeoville high school students, Wear if You Care collects nonperishable food for Romeoville’s St. Andrew We Care Food Pantry and Good Shepherd Pantry. The St. Andrew We Care Food Pantry is looking for baby food, paper products, canned meat and chili, toiletries, detergent, cooking oil, soup and tuna fish, and the Good Shepherd Pantry is looking for jelly, ramen noodles and cereal. The Rasmussen College drop-off site will accept nonperishable food items to be delivered to the local pantries.
Community members can contact Rasmussen College Romeoville/Joliet at (815) 306-2600 with any questions.
