MINNEAPOLIS  (December 2, 2010) – Midlend, Pa., resident Beth Narad has been selected to attend the Rasmussen Leadership Academy, launched by Rasmussen College to help online students identify and strengthen their unique leadership skills and learn about their application in educational, professional, and community settings. Narad was chosen from a pool of nearly 70 applicants as one of 20 students who will benefit from the one-of-a-kind program in its inaugural year. She is pursuing her Associate’s degree in Information Systems Management with specialization in Network Security through the School of Technology and Design at Rasmussen College.

Developed in response to an evolving, increasingly virtual higher education industry, the prestigious Rasmussen Leadership Academy is offered free-of-charge to interested Rasmussen College online students, who are selected following an application process. Beginning January 2011, enrolled students will learn about leadership styles, communication and conflict management skills, and the importance of diversity awareness.

“At Rasmussen College, we are dedicated to providing the education and skills training necessary for students in all programs to succeed in today’s dynamic and diverse professional environments. This well-rounded approach often includes exposure to leadership and personal development opportunities,” Rasmussen College Online Campus Regional Academic Dean Ann Morgan said. “The Rasmussen Leadership Academy provides a forum for students to begin thinking about their future vocational and career goals and the attributes that will help them meet those goals following graduation from Rasmussen College.”

Rasmussen College students who have been enrolled for two or more quarters are currently enrolled in at least two online classes and have a 3.0 GPA or higher are eligible to apply for the Rasmussen Leadership Academy. Members of the Rasmussen Leadership Academy are selected based on their references and a personal statement explaining how they see themselves as a leader and why they think the program will benefit them.
