MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., (January 24, 2011) – Rasmussen College will host a free Career and Networking Fair for residents of its 21 campus communities located in Florida, North Dakota, and throughout the Midwest on Thursday, Feb. 17. Companies from a variety of industries will be present and looking to fill positions with qualified candidates. Interested parties are encouraged to attend to gain a competitive edge in the job search process.
“While unemployment is still high nationwide, many industries are actually experiencing growth due to technological advancements, new legislation, and evolving market needs,” Rasmussen College National Director of Career Development Tamryn Hennessy said. “We are honored to have the opportunity to showcase available jobs in our campus communities and to help residents learn about positive steps they can take toward employment in expanding fields.”
Rasmussen College is highly committed to the career success and achievements of its students, and the Career and Networking Fair is one example of this guiding initiative. The Rasmussen College Career Development Team works diligently with students and employers to help them meet their goals. In fact, in a survey of Rasmussen College graduates, more than 88 percent reported being employed in their field of choice due to their program or continuing their education.
The Rasmussen College Career and Networking Fair is part of a national event that will be held at all 21 Rasmussen College campus locations, providing an opportunity for the public to network with the local business community, while also highlighting a number of available full-time, part-time, volunteer and internship opportunities. Employers in attendance will have the opportunity to view demonstrations on accessing the free Rasmussen College online job posting platform to access a nationwide base of students.
The most recent system-wide Rasmussen College Career and Networking Fair in August 2010 attracted nearly 3,000 community members nationwide and representation from more than 500 local businesses.
Rasmussen College representatives will be on hand at each campus to provide information about Master’s degree programs offered through the Rasmussen Partner Network of schools, and Bachelor’s and Associate’s degrees online and on-campus as well as career opportunities within the Rasmussen College system.
Attendees may also register for “Career Fair Preparation: Optimize Your Resources,” a free online Webinar offered through Rasmussen College on Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. CST and Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. CST. Attendees will learn how to improve their job search results by updating their resumes with job-specific information and practicing their interviewing skills using tools on Optimal Resume and utilizing library resources to research companies attending their local career fair.
