OCALA, Fla., (Jan. 25, 2011) – Rasmussen College has named Karen Guty dean of nursing at its Ocala, FL college campus. Guty brings more than 25 years of nursing experience to her new position, including strong leadership skills developed through senior-level experience as vice president of patient care services at The Villages Regional Hospital in Florida and Uniontown Hospital in Pennsylvania.
Prior to being named dean of nursing, Guty served as a Rasmussen College adjunct faculty member, teaching classes through the School of Allied Health and eventually expanding her role to that of a full-time instructor for the School of Nursing. In her new role she will report to Rasmussen College Regional Dean of Nursing Juli Daniels.
“Karen demonstrates a strong passion for nursing, focusing especially on the impact nurses have on the lives of their patients, and we warmly welcome her into her new position,” Rasmussen College Ocala Campus Director Pete Beasley said. “She will complement our growing School of Nursing, which boasts a strong group of passionate faculty dedicated to guiding students to the rewarding nursing profession and sending the most skilled and qualified professionals into local health care settings.”
Guty graduated from the Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing and holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with Public School Nursing Certificate from California University of Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pennsylvania State University, and a Master of Science in Nursing with Basic Business Certificate from the School of Nursing and School of Business at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
