FT. MYERS, Fla. (May 06, 2011) – Ten years after the September 11 attacks, Master Patrol Officer Matthew Besheer will share his story of hunting the terrorists who plotted against the United States with community members and students of the Rasmussen College School of Justice Studies on Thursday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m.

He may not be Jack Bauer, but Punta Gorda Master Patrol Officer Matthew Besheer is close enough; he did work to hunt and capture the terrorist suspects who masterminded the September 11 attacks.

As a member of the FBI NYPD Joint Task Force, Officer Besheer is well known for his efforts in the capture of Ramzi Ahmed Youself, one of the architects behind the plot to attack America on September 11, 2001. During his tenure, Officer Besheer hunted the terrorists who plotted against the United States, specializing in finding terrorists in Pakistan, specifically, for seven years.

Officer Besheer’s appearance at Rasmussen College will follow the weeklong celebration of National Police Week, in which the college will honor fallen police officers and those who still serve and protect.

During National Police Week, which begins May 15 and ends May 21, Rasmussen College – Fort Myers will host several events in honor of Cape Coral Police Officer David Wagoner who was shot three times during a routine traffic stop on April 16, 2011. Rasmussen College student members of the American Criminal Justice Association will host a car wash and sell food in order to raise money for Officer Wagoner and his family.

National Police Week dates back to 1962 when President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week that follows as National Police Week. Several educational events, community activities and fundraisers will be held across the 21 Rasmussen College campus locations in Minnesota, Illinois, Florida, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
