OCALA, Fla. (June 7, 2011) – Rasmussen College in Ocala, Fla. will host a game jam beginning June 10 and ending June 12—a 48 hour non-stop video game creation event that will allow anyone who has ever been interested in creating a video game, the opportunity to actually build a game.
At the event, programmers, artists, writers, and other game makers will form small teams and then set let loose to create a video game to a specific theme in 48 hours. Beginners as well as professionals are invited to come participate in the game-developing event. Participants should be able to contribute to the development of the video game by writing, designing, programming, or creating sound effects.
Game Jam Ocala will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday, June 10 and will end at 5:00 pm on the following Sunday. In addition to video games, Game Jam Ocala will also allow participants to create board games. In order to participate in Game Jam Ocala, participants must be at least 18 years old. While Rasmussen College will provide computers and design and development software for participants to use, participants with game or graphic software are encouraged to bring their own computers as well.
The School of Technology and Design at Rasmussen College offers a bachelor’s degree in Game and Simulation Programming, and is proud to be hosting a game jam event at its Ocala, FL college campus.
