TAMPA, Fla. (July 14, 2011) – Apple Genius Garrett Page will be speaking to a group of technology enthusiasts at the Tampa/Brandon, FL campus of Rasmussen College about his road to one of the most coveted positions in technology retail during the College’s first ever Technology and Design month on Wednesday, July 20 at 7:00 pm at 4042 Park Oaks Boulevard in Tampa.

During this event entitled Journey to Genius: The Story of Garrett Page, which is free and open to the public, Page will speak about his aspirations to become an Apple Genius and how he was able to rise above many others seeking that same status with Apple, Inc.

Page, who has been in training with Apple for almost a year, has been working as an official Apple Genius since February of this year.

“Ever since I was little, I loved to take things apart to look inside and understand how they worked,” Page said. “I love that technology can do things that people never thought possible, and I am inspired by teaching others what I know. I am looking forward to hopefully motivating some other people who love technology as much as I do into making it a career.”

Although Page is an employee of Apple, he will be speaking specifically about personal experiences and not on behalf of Apple, Inc.

Those who are considering a career in technology or who have a general interest in the industry should attend. Faculty and program managers from the School of Technology and Design at Rasmussen College will be present to answer questions.

The Rasmussen College School of Technology and Design specializes in associate’s and bachelor’s degrees online and on campus in the most high demand fields in both technology and design. The latest programs added to the School of Technology and Design catalog include a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, which gives students the tools they need to build mobile apps, and a bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, a program designed for those who are interested in protecting important data from hackers by utilizing computer forensics.
