TAMPA, Fla. (August 7, 2012) – Rasmussen College is joining forces with the Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and Dress for Success of Tampa Bay to give Florida jobseekers the resources and confidence needed to land a new job. The Rasmussen College Tampa/Brandon campus is hosting a one-stop workshop on Thursday, August 9 where jobseekers will learn how to market themselves, build an effective resume, and present their best image to future employers.
The number of unemployed individuals per job opening was 3.5-to-1 in May 2012, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and according to CareerBuilder.com those looking for work only have 30 seconds to make a lasting impression.
“The job market may be competitive, but there are ways to stand out in a crowd,” said Staceyann Sinclair, Campus Director from the Rasmussen College Tampa/Brandon campus. “Our goal is to provide all of the tools necessary to make sure jobseekers in our community are prepared to make a lasting impression and get back to work.”
The Dress for Success Workshop includes sessions on professional networking, resume writing, appearance, and skincare by a Mary Kay expert. Jobseekers can even receive an updated haircut or style. Gently used suits and professional clothing will also be available.
The workshop will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012. The Rasmussen College Tampa/Brandon campus is located at 4042 Park Oaks Boulevard in Tampa. This workshop is being offered at no cost and open to the public.
On Thursday, August 16, the Rasmussen College Tampa/Brandon campus will host their Summer Career and Networking Expo from noon to 3 p.m. Designed to give current Rasmussen College students and recent graduates a distinct advantage over other candidates in their career search, the Summer Expo will focus primarily on improving job search success. Workshops, webinars and other events will provide tips to help participants ‘wow’ potential employers by putting their best face forward, on paper, online and in person.
