Chicago, Ill. (April 3, 2013) – Rasmussen College today announced the appointment of Marshall Lancaster as the new Chief Information Officer of the College. Lancaster will oversee all technology and information systems infrastructures at Rasmussen College to help further position the regionally accredited college as a leader in online education.
“We are very excited and fortunate to have Marshall join the Rasmussen College team. He brings over two decades of industry experience at world-class companies, and is a proven leader in implementing technologies that help organizations improve operating effectiveness and customer satisfaction,” said Rasmussen College Chief Executive Officer Tom Slagle. “His focus will be on integrating a strong IT and business strategy for the College which will have a positive impact on the overall learning experience for our students.”
Prior to joining Rasmussen College, Lancaster served as the Vice President of I.T. Enterprise Applications at United Stationers, Inc. in Deerfield, Ill. In this position, he led business solution development for the entire company and created a shared services organization that consolidated all application development within one leadership structure. During his tenure at United Stationers, Lancaster oversaw multi-million dollar operational budgets, held accountability for all enterprise shared service and technology architecture functions – such as IT operations, security infrastructure, and IT policy ownership – and also led the modernization of several of the company’s e-commerce platforms.
“Technology is changing the landscape of higher education and it is becoming more important for colleges and universities to ensure that their technology infrastructure not only meets the needs of current students, but is looking ahead at what the next generation of students will need to be successful,” said Slagle. “Marshall has built his career on being innovative and forward-thinking in this area, and he will help Rasmussen College develop a strong architecture for our growing technology needs.”
Lancaster earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University, and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School. He holds ITIL-Practitioner, ITIL-Foundations, and Six Sigma Green Belt certifications. Lancaster also served in the United States Air Force.
Rasmussen College has become an industry leader in integrating technological solutions into an academic setting.
