Similar studies published in the journal Science indicate that infants as young as four months can recognize their native language simply by watching lip movements -- even in the absence of sound. It's a fascinating period of discovery in infant research, and there's never been a better time to earn your degree in Child Development. With a Child Development education from Rasmussen College, you'll be ready to help children reach their full potential.

Employment opportunities for childcare workers are growing. Earning an Accredited degree in Child Development will qualify you to enter this thriving career field. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job openings in childcare will increase approximately fourteen percent through the year 2014 and wages are growing as well. In 2004, (the last year for which salary data is available) childcare workers averaged more than eight dollars per hour. In the intervening years, inflation and cost-of-living adjustments have driven wages significantly higher, and self-employed childcare workers have the opportunity to earn far more than the national median salary. It's an exciting time in the realm of Childhood Development.
