Nursing Admissions Qualifications

The Rasmussen College School of nursing is a supportive program dedicated to fostering success in its students. Acceptance into the program is limited; therefore, all candidates must adhere to the following guidelines.

1. In order to be considered for admission to the Rasmussen College School of Nursing, please complete our Request for Nursing Candidacy Form. Email your completed form to Nursing@Rasmussen.edu or fax it to (866) 533-0010.
2. All candidates will receive a personal assessment to establish potential success in the Nursing program.
3. All candidates must take pre-qualifying examinations to progress in the application process.
   1. (Examination 1) STEP Assessment — this online exam tests your skill level in math, reading, and English. There is no cost for this exam. A minimum score must be achieved in order to progress on to the HESI Test.
   2. (Examination 2) HESI Test — this on-campus exam tests a more advanced skill set than the STEP Assessment. THe areas covered are math, reading, vocabulary, grammar, biology, chemistry, anatomy, & physiology. There is a one-time $65 fee associated with this exam. Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 80% on this exam to progress in the application process.
4. After submitting your Request for Nusing Candidacy, you may schedule your online STEP Assessment by contacting the School of Nursing toll-free at (866) 544-1789 or by email at Nursing@Rasmussen.edu.
5. Candidates must also:
   1. Submit transcripts from any other school attended
   2. Pass a criminal background check
   3. Have received a Physical Exam within the last year that includes:
      1. Hepatitis B vaccinations (cycle must be initiated before admission to program)
      2. MMR (Measles/Mumps/Rubella) vaccination
      3. Negative TB test or negative chest x-ray
   4. Possess an active CPR card (healthcare professionals course)
   5. Obtain a fingerprint card

Priority status will be given to candidacy requests submitted prior to the admission deadline (speak with Nursing Admissions Staff concerning deadline dates).
