Surgical Technologist - $33,844 (25th percentile)
Surgical technologists prepare and maintain medical equipment for surgical procedures. They are required to follow hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patients during pre-operation procedures and perform pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body, and medical equipment. They may also be required to transport patient to and from the operating room. Surgical Technologists must be a graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program and must be certified to perform CPR. In the workplace, they typically report to a Registered Nurse.
Surgical First Assistant- $56,859 (25th percentile)
Surgical First Assistants evaluate, plan, implement, and document surgical care for perioperative patients. They perform surgical procedures under supervision of a Surgeon and function as a Scrub and a Circulating Nurse. They typically report to a Surgeon, Manager, or head of a unit/department. This position is an advanced position and requires an Associates degree, a certification as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA), and a certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR), in addition to at least 2 years of operating room experience.
