Team Johnson Motorsports
A Family Run Business with Roots in Minnesota
Originally hailing from Faribault, MN, about 50 miles south of Minneapolis, the Johnson family moved to Mooresville, North Carolina - the heart of auto racing country - and opened Team Johnson Motorsports.
The shop’s location in Race City, USA, positions Team Johnson (Legion Racing) on the cutting-edge of racing technology and information. They enjoy a location near most other NEXTEL Cup, Busch, and ARCA race teams.
Jerick Johnson drives the #76 - American Legion Freedom Car, whose inspiration came from one of the main sponsors, The American Legion and its nearly 4 million members.
The American Legion is an organization that is close to the hearts of Team Johnson. Driver, Jerick Johnson, is a Sons of the American Legion member; Team Owner, Jack Johnson, is a Legionnaire and his wife, Debby is an auxiliary member.
The car’s number, 76, was chosen carefully as a constant reminder of the year of our nation’s birth, 1776, and the bravery and sacrifice of the first American patriots who fought for her freedom.
“I’m proud and honored to drive the American Legion – 76 Freedom Car. Our team is ready to compete and very excited to get our racecar on the track.
We are looking forward to being a contender with the support of the legionnaires, patriotic Americans and race fans across the country. Wartime era veterans of all ages have shown their support and enthusiasm for NASCAR. The American Legion Freedom Car is our way of saying “Thank You” for serving our country and for their continued support of this great American past time.”
