APPLETON, Wisc. (August 13, 2012) – The Rasmussen College Appleton campus is proud to partner with Clarity Care to offer a new Home Health Aide/Nursing Assistant training program to help meet the growing demand for qualified workers in this field. The new three-week course launching September 10 includes both classroom and clinical instruction, and prepares students to take the Certified Nurse Assistant competency exam, offered by the State of Wisconsin.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for home health aide/nursing assistants is expected to grow an amazing 70 percent by 2020. The baby boomers, which will all be at least 55 years old in the next eight years, are fueling the growth in this field.
“We are so pleased to partner with Clarity Care, Inc. to offer such a highly needed and in-demand program for our community,” said Bill Panella, Campus Director of the Rasmussen College Appleton campus. “Generations are living longer, and more adults are living healthier and active lives. As adults continue to age, many want to stay in their homes or assisted living facilities as long as they can. This program effectively trains individuals to provide this type of care.”
Clarity Care, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing care and services to individuals with acute, chronic or long-term conditions including those with disabilities and special needs. Each Home Health Aide/Nursing Assistant course will last for three weeks and include two weeks of classroom instruction along with one week of clinical experience, for a total of 120 hours. Some of the topics covered by this course include first aid, personal care skills, vital signs, nutrition, home safety and residents’ rights. Courses will be offered on a regular basis.
“Completion of this program provides the advantage of immediate job mobility as well as being a gateway to more complex healthcare jobs,” said Caryn Cleveland-Short, Director of Education and Staff Development at Clarity Care.
“By training and increasing the number of certified home health aide and nursing assistants, we can help improve the quality of life for many individuals in our community. Together, Clarity Care working on our campus will provide a much needed and valued resource to the local community – we look forward to seeing the positive impact this will make in the years to come,” said Panella.
