Rasmussen College RN to BSN Degree Program Earns CCNE Accreditation
College also reduces tuition to make nursing degree program more accessible and help meet nationwide demand for nurses with bachelor's degrees
MINNEAPOLIS (November 20, 2014)–Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college and Public Benefit Corporation, announced today that its Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) degree program has earned accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the nation’s premier accrediting body for bachelor’s- and graduate-level nursing degree programs. Earning national accreditation from the CCNE demonstrates the Rasmussen College RN to BSN degree program meets the highest standards for quality and integrity in nursing education and prepares professionals to improve health care in the United States.
The accreditation comes as the need for registered nurses with bachelor’s degrees continues to rise. The Institute of Medicine (IOH) recommends the number of working RNs with a bachelor’s degree increase to 80 percent by 2020 in order to meet the demands of an aging population, changing patient needs and the evolving health care system. According to a 2013 report by the Health Resources and Services Administration, only 55 percent of working nurses hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, indicating a significant gap to fill.
Tuition Reduction for Nursing Students
To further its commitment to meeting the needs of today’s health care field, Rasmussen College also announced today that it will lower tuition costs for its RN to BSN program by 16 percent. The tuition reduction is immediately available for students enrolling in the winter quarter.
“The Rasmussen College RN to BSN program is designed to transform current registered nurses into the next generation of nursing leaders, and we feel it’s our responsibility that we do so by providing the best college investment possible for our students,” said Dr. Joan Rich, vice president of the Rasmussen College School of Nursing. “With reduced tuition costs and fully online courses, students can start earning the degree they need to help advance their careers on a schedule and budget that’s right for them.”

The RN to BSN degree program uses Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies that prepare students for leadership in nursing by focusing on patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, safety and informatics. The program is designed to be completed in as few as 12 months.
“We are extremely proud and thrilled to learn the Rasmussen College RN to BSN program is being recognized for meeting or exceeding national standards for nursing education and for successfully preparing our students to work in today’s rapidly changing and growing health care field,” Rich said. “We have always believed our RN to BSN program is one of the best options for registered nurses looking to advance their careers and gain additional competencies necessary for addressing the complexity of our healthcare industry today. The Rasmussen College RN to BSN faculty members are extremely knowledgeable in their field, and they take pride in celebrating our recent CCNE accreditation.”
