MINNEAPOLIS (October 15, 2014)–Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, is proud to announce its student tutoring training program, Tutor Excellence, has been awarded the National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA) Innovative Use of Technology Award. The award recognizes learning centers that use innovative technology solutions to improve student learning and enhance learning strategies. Representatives from the Rasmussen College Library and Learning Center accepted the award during the NCLCA’s annual conference Oct. 1-4 in Albuquerque, N.M.
“We are honored to receive this award and to be recognized for enhancing student learning,” said Emily O’Conner, dean of Library and Learning Services at Rasmussen College. “Rasmussen College tutors contribute thousands of hours to their fellow students’ academic success each quarter, and Tutor Excellence represents our commitment to the quality, integrity and ongoing improvement of our tutors and tutoring program.”
Student Tutoring Training Program Internationally Recognized
The Rasmussen College Tutor Excellence program began in 2012 and is one of about 1,000 programs across the world recognized by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) as a certified program. With 24 residential learning centers across six states, as well as an online learning center, the College wanted to find a way to consistently deliver effective and frequent training to all of its tutors. Through innovative technology solutions such as an online training courses, self-produced tutor training webinars, an online tool for recording tutoring usage and an online platform for connecting tutors with students across locations, the Rasmussen College Library and Learning Center is proud to have one of the most innovative and successful student tutoring programs in the country.
“We are extremely proud of how these innovations have improved our tutor training, which ultimately allows us to better serve our students,” said Jon Mladic, associate dean of Learning Center at Rasmussen College. “Our Learning Center team does an amazing job of finding new and creative ways to effectively employ technology to ensure our tutors have the best training we can offer available to them. We look forward to exploring even more ways technology can help us make tutor training more engaging, fun and available to even more of our terrific tutoring team.”
