Rasmussen College faculty—including Dr. Cecelia Westby, Rasmussen faculty and academic director of ECE at Collegis Education—joined NAEYC in bringing recognition and insight to the needs of ECE programs and their significance.
Rasmussen College hosted several events and activities at its 24 campuses during the “Week of the Young Child” (WOYC) festivities on April 6-12. Supporters, students and faculty raised their voices to make a difference in the lives of kids, the education programs available to them, and showcase why early childhood education is important.
The Rasmussen College theme for the week was “Investing in Young Children Benefits All.”
Rasmussen College is fully committed to bringing awareness to the critical initiative of early childhood education. The college shows its support by fostering and participating in ECE advocacy gatherings including the passing of The Strong Start for America’s Children Act of 2013.
The WOYC event was the most recent ECE initiative Rasmussen College attended.
In spring 2014, Dr. Westby represented Rasmussen College at the 10th World Forum on Early Care & Education in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Westby was selected to participate in an international panel discussing innovative ways to prepare future teachers. Westby recommended improved access to higher education for ECE professionals. She said higher education for teachers would mean higher-quality care and education for young children and their families.
Westby cited online ECE degree programs—including those at Rasmussen College—as a means to pave the way for a well-equipped workforce of ECE teachers.
