T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship Program Now Available For Rasmussen College Students
Early Childhood Education students can now qualify for scholarship aimed at improving the quality of early education.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (February 28, 2012) – Rasmussen College early childhood education students in Wisconsin can now benefit from the T.E.A.C.H. scholarship program, which provides scholarships for early childcare educators. T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Wisconsin is a statewide program designed to help child care center teaching staff, Head Start teachers, family child care providers, center directors and administrators meet their professional development goals while continuing their current employment in regulated early childhood and school age care settings. Students attending Rasmussen College at the Minnesota and Florida campus locations are also available for this scholarship program.
“Our children, their education, and their growth are incredibly important, and the T.E.A.C.H. scholarship is giving those who work with children the support and encouragement they need to further their own education so that they can be even better at providing care and education for young children", said Cecelia Westby, Director of the Rasmussen College School of Education. “We are proud to be a T.E.A.C.H. eligible institution.”
Students enrolled in an Early Childhood Education Associate’s degree or certificate program through any of the Rasmussen College Wisconsin campuses in Appleton, Green Bay or Wausau may be eligible for the T.E.A.C.H. scholarship. T.E.A.C.H. links education, compensation and commitment to improving the quality of early education. Currently there are four scholarship models available to support credit-based education: Credential Scholarship, Associate Degree Scholarship, Bachelor Degree Scholarship, and a 3-8 Credit Scholarship.
T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® is a national program that currently operates in 22 states in the country. Wisconsin Early Childhood Association was licensed to administer the program in Wisconsin in 1999. Since then, the program has successfully enhanced professional qualifications, increased wages, and reduced the rate of staff turnover among scholarship recipients in Wisconsin.
The Rasmussen College School of Education Early Childhood Education associate’s degree and certificate programs help prepare students to make a positive and profound difference in the lives of young children and their families. With a curriculum based on national standards established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Early Childhood Education program at Rasmussen College helps students develop the knowledge and skills needed to become a successful educator within the classroom. Available across the three Wisconsin campuses and online, the School of Education at Rasmussen College offers four unique specializations that provide students with a niche depth of learning in the areas of early childhood education: Child Development, English Language Learner, Child and Family Studies, and Special Needs.
In addition, Rasmussen College offers 540 hours of applied learning that may be earned at a student's early childhood place of employment. Combined with the opportunities provided by the T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship, working early childhood education students at Rasmussen College will have numerous opportunities to advance and further the education and careers.
