What is the history of Rasmussen College and the New Port Richey/West Pasco campus?
Rasmussen College is a regionally accredited private college and has been dedicated to changing lives and the communities it serves through its high-demand and flexible educational programs since 1900. The College is committed to academic innovation and providing the highest standard of education while empowering students to pursue a college education. The College offers Certificate and Diploma programs through Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs online and across its 24 campuses.
“Being with the College for the past 3 years has afforded me the opportunity to work with great students and staff and feel like the work we are doing every day is changing lives both in the classroom and the community,” Stern says.
The New Port Richey campus relocated to its current location in 2011 and has been a bustling campus dedicated to student success and community engagement ever since. Just 12 miles from the Land O’ Lakes/East Pasco campus, the New Port Richey/West Pasco campus is one of five the College has in Florida.
Where is the New Port Richey/West Pasco campus located?
The campus is conveniently located in the West Pasco Government Center next to the West Pasco Judicial Center and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and has free parking available for students, faculty, staff and visitors on site.
“While Florida is often considered a transient state, New Port Richey residents often stick around. We are part of a strong and tight knit community. I often run into Rasmussen College alumni working in the community, and it isn’t uncommon to see family members attending college together—whether that is a mother and daughter or two brothers,” Stern says.

The New Port Richey/West Pasco campus offers the following on-campus programs in the Schools of Health Sciences and Nursing:

- Medical Assisting Diploma: The Medical Assisting Diploma program at the New Port Richey/West Pasco campus in Florida is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).1
- Surgical Technologist Associate’s degree
School of Nursing
- Professional Nursing (ADN): The Rasmussen College Professional Nursing Associate's degree program in New Port Richey/West Pasco, Florida is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).2
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program at Rasmussen College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)3
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): The Master of Science in Nursing degree program at Rasmussen College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).3
Students may also enroll in any of Rasmussen College’s more than 30 online programs through the New Port Richey/West Pasco campus and have access to on-campus support. Programs are taught by qualified faculty members across seven schools of study including Business, Design, Education, Health Sciences, Justice Studies, Nursing and Technology.

“Students enjoy hanging out on campus, whether in the study areas, labs or learning commons. They love being surrounded by the familiar faces on campus,” Stern says. Students have access to lots of areas for studying and collaboration and, with full-time tutors and advisors on staff, support services are plenty. Knowledgeable staff are available to help answer questions and guide you on your educational journey. They can even help you with course scheduling, financial aid and learning support.
In addition to on-campus, in-person resources, students have real-time access to everything they need, from academics to financial aid. The online Student Portal is the gateway to a variety of self-service tools, from course materials, grades, account balance, financial aid and library resources to career help and even 24/7 tech help.

How is the New Port Richey/West Pasco campus involved in the local community?

The College has forged strong community partnerships and secured top-of-the-line clinical sites. Partners such as Medical Center of Trinity, HCA Healthcare and Centra Care have been vital for students and faculty. With more than 350 nursing students, the campus also boasts a strong Rasmussen School of Nursing Association (RSNA), a nursing club dedicated to fundraising and community involvement.

- Westside Deli, located just across the street from campus, offers the best food around. Students and faculty alike frequent the deli in between classes or while on a quick study break with friends.

- Sims Park and Orange Lake is a favorite spot for locals to visit. With a band shell and multiple pavilions, it frequently hosts concerts and events.
- The New Port Richey campus is the closest Rasmussen College campus to the beach, so students and faculty get to enjoy the sun and the sand frequently!
