Twitter Chat: Prospective Students Ask Rasmussen College Their Toughest Questions

Rasmussen College hosted its inaugural Twitter chat on July 23 for prospective students interested in earning their college degree.

During the discussion prospective students were encouraged to ask any questions they might have had about going back to school and earning their degree. Questions needed to be relevant to the college and could revolve around any of the following subjects:

Furthermore, the Twitter chat was a success because prospective students, students and faculty participated in the online conversation. For more about what questions were asked and answered during the Twitter chat, view the highlights below.

Wait … what is a Twitter chat you ask?

Twitter chats, also known as a Twitter party or tweet chat, happen with a group of people who all tweet around the same topic using a specific hashtag (#), allowing followers on Twitter to have a somewhat “exclusive” conversation.

Chats typically happen at a specific time and date, often repeating weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Twitter chats originate through and users generally learn about upcoming chats via word-of-mouth campaigns and other organic promotion.

Along for the ride of our first-ever Twitter chat were three Rasmussen College admission team leaders and our social media team who were all monitoring and commenting throughout the chat using our specific hashtag #RASchat.

There were several highlights from the Twitter chat including:

Question: What type of degrees does @Rasmussen College offer and what programs? #RasChat

Question for our moderators: If you are thinking of going back to #college, where should you start? What do you need? #raschat

The next Twitter chat

It was very encouraging to witness the engagement and conversation that happened during this first Twitter chat. In order to capitalize on the momentum from the first one, we are planning the next Twitter chat for some time in October. Follow the Rasmussen College Twitter account @Rasmussen for more details closer to the time.
