*Rasmussen College will cover the application fee for each first attempt of all of the industry certification exams for which you qualify to take. Should you need to take an exam more than once to receive a passing score, you will be responsible for all subsequent exam application fees.

Cyber Security Bachelor’s Degree Course Highlights

Your Cyber Security Bachelor’s degree curriculum provides advanced instruction in the most relevant areas, including information assurance, forensics, and cyber security, as well as:

Managing Risk for Information Systems
This course addresses the broad topic of risk management and how risk, threats, and vulnerabilities impact information systems. Areas of instruction include how to assess and manage risk based on defining an acceptable level of risk for information systems. Elements of a business impact analysis, business continuity plan, and disaster recovery plan will be discussed.

Network Security and Cryptography
This course examines threats to computer networks, network vulnerabilities, techniques for strengthening passive defenses, tools for establishing an active network defense, and policies for enhancing forensic analysis of crimes and attacks on computer networks. Topics include private and public key cryptography, digital signatures, secret sharing, security protocols, formal methods for analyzing network security, electronic mail security, firewalls, intrusion detection, Internet privacy and public key infrastructures.

Hacker Techniques, Tools and Applications
This course is an introduction to hacking tools and incident handling. Areas of instruction include various tools and vulnerabilities of operating systems, software, and networks used by hackers to access unauthorized information. This course also addresses incident handling methods used when information security is compromised.

Career Possibilities

The Bureau of Labor Statistics currently groups job outlook and career information for Cyber Security professionals under the “Network and Computer Systems Administrator” title. Overall employment of computer network, systems, and database administrators is projected to increase by 23 percent from 2008 to 2018, much faster than the average for all occupations. In addition, this occupation will add 78,900 new jobs over that period.

Seamless Credit Transfer Policies

Transferring your credits doesn't need to be difficult.  At Rasmussen College, our transfer policies are designed to maximize your credit transfer and minimize your time to graduation.

  • Transfer your entire Associate’s degree credits and enter at Junior status if you have an Associate's degree and are seeking a Bachelor’s degree in a similar field—this also means you will not have to complete any pre-requisites for most degrees ¹
  •  Transfer all general education courses from your previously-earned Associate's or Bachelor's degree regardless of course of study ²
  • Course-by-course evaluation of all courses with a grade of C or higher
  • Credit by examination, which gives you an opportunity to test out of courses where you can demonstrate specific knowledge.  These tests are offered free of charge to Rasmussen College students. 
  • Earn college credit through prior work, learning, and military experiences
