Although more and more people are going to college than 50 years ago, it is still difficult for families to afford it. Sixty-nine percent of parents have started saving more for their children’s higher education than seven years ago, according to Fidelity’s 2013 College Savings Indicator Study. Parents have also started to count heavily on their children to help out with paying for college by applying for grants and scholarships.
