Marketing professionals are some of the most important members in their organizations, as they are directly responsible for increasing awaredness and interest of a product or service. If you're interested in obtaining a marketing degree, you'll be happy to know that there are many different specialties available.

Career Fields for Marketing Degree Graduates

Internet Marketing

With the growing role the Internet plays in our lives, businesses have realized that they need to promote online attract the attention of new customers. Internet marketing specialists are responsible for tracking data and expanding the customer base through methods like search engine optimization, copywriting, social media, website design, online promotions, and even email marketing.

Advertising

Advertisers plan and execute promotional campaigns to inform or persuade prospective customers about a product or service. An integral part in the marketing mix, these professionals strategize print and television advertising campaigns, coordinate promotions, design the multimedia assets of a campaign, manage the the relationships between client and advertisor, and purchase advertising space.

Public Relations

Public relations is a form of marketing that deals with an organization's use of media placements to influence the general opinion of a company. These professionals plan ways to develop positive images for their business and obtain attention for marketing programs. Non-profit organizations 

Promotions

Promotional specialists use various marketing and advertising strategies to reach a targeted audience to achieve certain organizational objectives. Promotional specialists create purchase incentives like discounts, samples, gifts, coupons, sweepstakes, and contests to increase sales. The programs are publicized through a variety of avenues, such as newspapers, television, and the Internet.

Sales

Marketing and sales is another integral position within many organizations. Marketing and sales managers work in collaboration with a sales team to ensure they are delivering appropriate messages to the end customer. They can refine an organization's key messages or advertising campaigns, recruit and develop strong sales teams, adapt to the strategies of their competitors, and identify emerging trends in the marketplace.

No matter what area of marketing you choose, a marketing degree can help you take the right classes to get the education you need to succeed as a professional in the field. You'll learn about all of the different sectors and be able to choose which one you'd like to specialize in.
