Why Nursing is One of the Most Sought-After Careers Today

Written by Rasmussen College School of Nursing on June 6, 2011 | 3 Comments

Do you have the instinctual desire to help people, but never knew what career would allow you to put these skills to use? Becoming a nurse may be just what you're looking for, due to the constant interaction with patients and the great pay the job typically provides. It's safe to say that the nursing industry is one of the most opportune professions out there today - as long as people continue to seek aid, nurses will be needed.

Luckily, there are programs - both online and campus-based - that give individuals the chance to see if a career in nursing is something that suits them. It's because of this that many individuals decide to further their career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN) or even earn a higher degree in the medical field.

If you do decide to earn your professional nursing degree to become a RN, you could be on the fast-track to a successful and rewarding career. The median annual wages of registered nurses was $62,450 in May of 2008 (BLS, 2008). If you decide to take more classes, such as enrolling in a Practical Nursing degree program, RN to BSN program, you'll likely make the transition with ease and convenience.
