Rasmussen College in New Port Richey Has Now Begun Enrolling For Its First Ever Professional Nursing Mobility Program in the State of Florida, Which Will Enable Licensed Practical Nurses to Become Registered Nurses In As Little As 9 Months
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (September 6, 2011) – As the demand for registered nurses in Florida continues to grow, the Rasmussen College New Port Richey, FL college campus in is launching its first ever professional nursing mobility program in the state of Florida. The LPN to RN bridge program will enable practical nurses to become registered nurses in as little as nine months.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates that more than 580,000 new jobs for registered nurses will be created through 2018 nationally, and there are more than 21,000 job postings for registered nurses in Florida over the past six months on Career Builder alone.
“We are proud to offer current and future nursing professionals the respected and relevant degree options they need to either start or, in the case of our new Professional Nursing Mobility program, advance their nursing career,” Rasmussen College New Port Richey School of Nursing Dean Kelly McCullough said. “By offering a full-time Mobility program, we can help LPNs take their career to the next level and in less than a year, become an RN, which will allow them to not only advance professionally, but also increase their salary and expand their employment opportunities."
The new professional nursing mobility program is approved by the Florida State Board of Nursing and will allow students to earn an associate’s degree and sit for the NCLEX-RN exam, the national licensure examination for registered nurses. Upon successful completion of the exam, students will then become registered nurses.
In addition to the Mobility program, the School of Nursing at Rasmussen College offers a diploma in practical nursing and an associate’s degree in professional nursing. The Rasmussen College School of Nursing also offers an RN-BSN online degree, which facilitates working registered nurses who are interested in a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
The Rasmussen College New Port Richey campus is now enrolling for its first class of professional nursing Mobility students; classes will begin October 3.
Any licensed practical nurse who is interested in enrolling for the program should call the New Port Richey college campus at (727) 942-0069 or visit the new campus at 8661 Citizens Drive.
