FT. MYERS, Fla. (June 27, 2011) – Rasmussen College Ft. Myers was recently awarded the Key Classroom Partner of the Year Award by Junior Achievement for the college’s community service work.
In earning the award, the Rasmussen College Ft. Myers, FL college campus partnered with Collegiate DECA, a student organization for college marketing and business students, and volunteered with Ft. Myers-area schools to teach a pre-set curriculum that was designed by Junior Achievement. The curriculum focused on building a city in which the students learned about zoning, business, and economics.
At a banquet hosted by Junior Achievement, Rasmussen College was recognized for its efforts and noted as having the largest volunteer base out of any business in Southwest Florida.
“We are extremely honored to have received the Key Classroom Partner of the Year Award from Junior Achievement,” Rasmussen College Ft. Myers Campus Director Eric Whitehouse said. “At Rasmussen College, we are wholly committed to contributing to the growth and development of our communities, and Junior Achievement is such a worthwhile organization—inspiring students to work hard and strive for greatness while teaching them real world skills.”
A partnership between volunteers, educators, and the business community, Junior Achievement is a worldwide organization that inspires high school students to achieve their full potential by providing hands-on programs that teach the real world concepts of successful professionals including work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, according to its website.
