Rasmussen College Donates To Lee County Public Schools
College continues community support with $5,000 donation to help enhance and enrich the public school experience for students and teachers
FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 25, 2012) – In support of enhancing the local public education experience for students and teachers, Rasmussen College made a $5,000 donation today to the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools. This is the third year the College has made a donation to the Foundation.
“The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools implements the best K-12 programs, grants, and scholarships that help students in our community excel in their educational careers,” said Rasmussen College Campus Director Eric Whitehouse. “Our mission at Rasmussen is to not only ensure the academic success of our students, but to support and encourage the academic growth of all students and faculty in our community. Our partnership with the Foundation is a perfect opportunity to help achieve this broader community goal.”
Rasmussen College faculty members have participated in multiple programs at the Foundation, including STEM@Work, which provides hands-on learning experiences for students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, and the Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Program. This donation coincides with Rasmussen College’s School of Education celebration of Week of the Young Child, a national event that raises awareness to the needs of young children and their families.
Lee County Public Schools is the ninth-largest school district in Florida, and the 40th-largest district in the United States. Educating approximately 82,000 students in grades K-12, Lee County Public Schools is one of the county’s largest employers with approximately 10,000 full- and part-time employees.
