Minneapolis (July 22, 2015)–Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college and Public Benefit Corporation, will give back to its local communities on Friday, July 24, during the College’s seventh annual Community Service Day. Approximately 1,200 employees and students from its 23 campuses and three central offices will volunteer during the national service day event. Through this annual effort, students and staff volunteer more than 4,000 hours in just one 24-hour period.
“Rasmussen College employees and students look forward to our annual Community Service Day every year,” said Dr. Trenda Boyum-Breen, president at Rasmussen College. “It’s a chance for the entire College to come together and give back to the communities we live and work in. Our volunteer efforts, however, are not just a one-day event. Staff and students at Rasmussen College are encouraged to give back throughout the entire year. In 2014, we donated more than 10,000 hours of community service across our campus communities.”
Campus and Central Office Participation
During this year’s Community Service Day, Rasmussen College employees and students will perform a variety of tasks, from painting and cleaning schools in preparation for the 2015-2016 school year, to stocking shelves and packing meals at food pantries, to leading activities at both youth and adult centers.
This year, employees and students from the College’s eight Minnesota campuses and Twin Cities Central Office will partner with several organizations, including Feed My Starving Children, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities, Catholic Charities-St. Cloud Children’s Home, Anoka-Hennepin Schools, The Family Partnership and Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP).
Employees from the College’s four Illinois campuses and the Chicago Central Office will volunteer their time at various organizations, including Galapagos Rockford Charter School, Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, Emmanuel House, Cornerstone Services and The Cancer Support Center.
The College’s five Florida campuses and employees from the Orlando Central Office have partnered with local organizations, including Marion County Public Schools, Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, PACE Center for Girls, North Brandon Family YMCA and Red Apple Adult Training Center.
In Wisconsin, employees and students from the College’s three campuses will volunteer their time at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley, Golden House, Green Bay Botanical Garden and Blessings in a Backpack.
