Rasmussen College Gives Back During Ninth Annual Community Service Day
Around 900 employees and students to volunteer at local organizations nationwide July 21
Minneapolis (July 18, 2017)–Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, will give back to its local communities on Fri., July 21 during the College’s ninth annual Community Service Day. Approximately 900 employees and students from its 22 campuses and three central offices will participate in the national service day event. Through this annual effort, staff and students will volunteer more than 2,700 hours in just one 24-hour period.
“Rasmussen College has provided education and resources that extend beyond our students and into our communities since 1900. Community Service Day celebrates this continuing legacy and demonstrates our commitment to serving our communities,” said Dr. Trenda Boyum-Breen, president of Rasmussen College. “In addition to our annual community service day event, we offer paid time off to our employees to volunteer so they can connect with local organizations and help make our communities a better place to live, grow and learn.”
Campus and Central Office Participation
During this year’s Community Service Day, Rasmussen College employees and students will perform a variety of tasks, from landscaping at nonprofit organizations, to packing birthday boxes for children in need, to cycling to raise money for single mothers.
Minnesota
This year, employees and students from the College’s eight Minnesota campuses and Twin Cities Central Office will partner with several organizations, including the City of Blaine Aquatore Park, Monarch Meadows of Monarch Healthcare Management, Fraser Foundation, Minneapolis Parks Lyndale Park Gardens, Catholic Charities Whitney Senior Center, Hospitality House Youth Development, Simon Says Give, Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP), CoCo’s Heart Dog Rescue and Tanner’s Team Foundation.
Illinois
Employees from the College’s four Illinois campuses and the Chicago Central Office will volunteer their time at various organizations, including the Discovery Center Museum, Barbara Olson Center of Hope, Box of Balloons, Ready, Set, Ride, The Midwest Shelter For Homeless Veterans and Feed My Starving Children.
Florida
The College’s five Florida campuses and employees from the Maitland Central Office have partnered with local organizations, including Meals on Wheels East Pasco, PACE Center For Girls Pasco, Metropolitan Ministries Pasco, The Orlando Fringe, Hillsborough Education Foundation, Dr. N.H. Jones Elementary School, FreeD.O.M Clinic USA, Freedom Branch Library and the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife.
Wisconsin
In Wisconsin, employees and students from the College’s two campuses will volunteer their time at New Community Shelter and Stable Hands Equine Therapy Center.
Fargo-Moorhead
This year, employees and students from the Fargo and Moorhead campuses will volunteer their time for the Jeremiah Program.
Kansas
The College’s two campuses in Kansas will partner with local organizations, including the Harvesters Community Food Network and the Topeka Zoo.
