Rasmussen College Celebrates The Holiday Season With Toys For Tots, Other Local Charities Around The Country
College Donates $2,000 to Toys for Tots, Holds Fundraising and Toy Drives at All 22 Campus Locations
Minneapolis, Minn. (Dec. 8, 2011) – In the true spirit of giving this holiday season, Rasmussen College today announced it is contributing $2,000 to U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program and holding toy drives and other holiday fundraising activities at its 22 campus locations across the country. The events give students, faculty and staff an easy way to contribute to charitable causes in their own communities by making the donation drop-off points available on campus.
In addition to the cash donation, all 22 campuses will hold Toys for Tots Toy Drives, with the items collected at each location being distributed locally to children in need. Since 1947, Toys for Tots has handed out more than 420 million toys to more than 196 million underprivileged children.
Other charitable drives taking place at local Rasmussen campuses include Voices for Children Teen Tree at the Ocala, Fla. campus and fund drives to support Metropolitan Ministries at Tampa/Brandon, Land O’Lakes and New Port Richey campuses, also in Florida. The Fort Myers, Fla. campus is collecting nonperishable food items for the Harry Chapin Food Bank, while the food drive at the Fargo/Moorhead, ND college campus supports the Great Plains Food Bank. At the St. Cloud, Minn. campus, volunteers will be ringing bells for the Salvation Army Giving Tree, and Catholic Charities will be collecting presents for local families at several campuses.
“It’s a privilege to support Toys for Tots and these other wonderful organization in their mission to provide a brighter holiday for children and families in need,” said Kristi Waite, Rasmussen College president. “Rasmussen College has always been a committed supporter of charitable organizations in the communities where we do business, and we are pleased to give our students and employees an opportunity to join us in contributing to these great causes during the holiday season.”
