“There is currently a high demand for registered nurses in the healthcare industry as a whole, and especially in our Florida campus markets,” said Kelly McCullough, South Central regional dean of nursing, Rasmussen College. “Through the Rasmussen College Future Nurses of Florida Grant, we are working to make tuition even more affordable and education more accessible for aspiring students looking to build a career in nursing.”
High Demand for Nurses in Florida
According to the Florida Center For Nursing, more than 40 percent of Florida’s nurses are approaching retirement age in the next 10 years, and there are not enough nurses to replace them. Baseline forecasts indicate the state will face a shortage of registered nurses by 2025 that could greatly damage the healthcare system and reduce access to healthcare for Floridians.
Through this grant, Rasmussen College is determined to help meet industry shortfalls for skilled, qualified registered nurses. The College’s Future Nurses of Florida Grant enables students to experience competitive tuition, a CCNE-accredited program2 and hands-on training that best positions them to advance in a nursing career. Upon earning a BSN degree, Rasmussen College students can confidently sit for the NCLEX-RN exam to earn the license needed to become an RN and start improving patients’ lives.
“Our BSN nursing program and training deliver the education, skills and knowledge needed to ensure our graduates are ready to fill roles in the high-demand career field of nursing,” said McCullough. “We constantly strive to prepare learners for the next phase of their careers, giving them the support and knowledge they need to flourish.”
The Future Nurses of Florida Grant is exclusive to qualifying new BSN students that reside in Florida and start the program in April, 2020. It is also available to LPN graduates who are continuing their education in one of Rasmussen’s Florida BSN programs. The grant is awarded through reducing the program cost by $5,000 in the final quarter of a student’s BSN program.
